Global Constitutionalism Seminar Sept. 25-27
Topics for discussion will include judicial dissent, the United Nations and constitutional orders, social conflict and judicial decision-making, constitutionalism and indigenous peoples, and religious status and secular constitutional law.
Among the 19 justices attending are Justice Aharon Barak, former President of the Supreme Court of Israel; Justices Stephen Breyer and Anthony Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court; Justice Brun-Otto Bryde of the Constitutional Court of Germany; Justice Olivier Dutheillet de Lamothe of the Conseil Constitutionnel of France; Chief Justice Andrew Li of the Court of Final Appeal, Hong Kong; Justice Miguel Maduro of the European Court of Justice; Justice Assad B. Mubarak of the High Court of the Palestinian Authority; and Justice Luzius Wildhaber, former President of the European Court of Human Rights.
The seminar has been directed by Professor Robert Post ’77 since 2006. From 1996 to 2006, it was directed by Professor Paul Gewirtz ’70.
