YLSA of New England – Reception with Professor Jonathan Macey ’82
The Yale Law School Association of New England invites alumni, current students, admitted students, and guests to a reception with Jonathan R. Macey ’82.
TOPIC: The Death of Reputation on Wall Street
In his recent book, The Death of Corporate Reputation, Jonathan Macey chronicles the demise of an era in which ethics and integrity were critical to the success for Wall Street firms, including investment banks, law firms, credit rating agencies and accounting firms. Using real-world examples, Macey describes the gradual transformation to the world of today, a new era in which regulatory (and other) forces displace, but fail to replace, the traditional incentives for strict adherence to high standards of ethical behavior at both the company and the individual levels. This talk will be of particular interest to people who have followed, and who wish to learn more about the effects of, the scandals on Wall Street involving credit rating agencies such as Standard and Poor’s, investment banks such as Goldman Sachs, accounting firms such as Arthur Andersen, and law firms such as Dewey Leboeuf.
