Professor Heather K. Gerken, the J. Skelly Wright Professor
of Law at Yale Law School, will be delivering the keynote address for the
Richard J. Childress Memorial Lecture at the Saint Louis University School of
Law, entitled “Federalism and Nationalism: Time for a Détente?” Gerken will
propose a possible accord between these two schools of thought, founded on the
premise that current perceptions of federalism are outdated on both sides of

William Eskridge, Jr. ’78, John A. Garver Professor of
Jurisprudence at Yale Law School, will deliver the nineteenth annual Frankel
Lecture, presented by the Houston Law Review. In “Marriage Equality as a
Testing Ground for Original Meaning,” Professor Eskridge will tackle the
subject of marriage equality and the Equal Protection Clause, thereby offering a critique of
“original meaning” theory.

The Class of 1957 will enjoy a mini reunion in New York City
on Friday, November 21. Hosted by Henry Lowet ’57 and Henry Turner ’57 at the
Regency Whist Club (15 East 67th Street), the festivities will last
from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy an open bar and hors d’oeuvres from
6:00 to 7:00, followed by a fancy four-course dinner. Reservations are required
