WATCH VIDEO OF THE CEREMONY

Sterling Professor of International Law Harold Hongju Koh was honored on April 11, 2013 during a ceremonial portrait unveiling at Yale Law School. The event took place in the Levinson Auditorium and featured an introduction by Dean Robert Post '77 and remarks by former Dean Guido Calabresi ’58 among others.

Professor Koh is one of the country’s leading experts in public and private international law, foreign affairs and national security, and human rights. He first began teaching at the Law School in 1985 and served as Dean from 2004 until 2009, when he took leave as the Martin R. Flug ’55 Professor of International Law to join the U.S. Department of State. Koh returned to Yale in January 2013 after serving more than three years as Legal Adviser to the U.S. Department of State and being awarded the Secretary of State’s Distinguished Service Award by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The portrait will be on permanent exhibition in the Law School’s alumni reading room, located at 127 Wall Street.
