Benjamin Heineman

Visiting Lecturer in Law
Benjamin W. Heineman, Jr., is a Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School, Senior Counsel at WilmerHale, and a Senior Fellow at Harvard Law School and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. From 1987-2003, he served as Senior Vice President-General Counsel for General Electric. He then served as Senior Vice President for Law and Public Affairs until his retirement at the end of 2005. Prior to joining General Electric, he was a managing partner at Sidley & Austin, focusing on Supreme Court and test case litigation. Previously, he served as Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation with the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. He holds degrees from Harvard, Oxford, and Yale Law School.
