Morris L. Cohen
Professor Emeritus of Law and Professorial Lecturer in Law
Morris L. Cohen has been Professor Emeritus of Law and Professorial Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School since 1991. From 1981 to 1991, he served as Librarian of the Law School and Professor of Law. Professor Cohen’s scholarly work has largely been in the field of legal research and historical bibliography. His published books include: Bibliography of Early American Law, 1998 (6 vols. & CD-ROM); Supplement to Bibliography of Early American Law, 2003; The Bench and Bar: Great Caricatures from Vanity Fair…, 1997; and A Guide to the Early Reports of the Supreme Court of the United States, 1995. He has served as a consultant to the World Health Organization and to numerous law schools and legal organizations in the U.S. and abroad. In 1970-71, Professor Cohen served as president of the American Association of Law Libraries. He was educated in the public schools of New York City; at the University of Chicago (B.A.); Columbia Law School (J.D.); Pratt Institute School of Library Service; and Dalhousie University (LL.D., honorary).
