Philip C. Bobbitt

Philip Bobbitt is a Sidley Austin-Robert D. McLean ’70 Visiting Professor of Law at Yale Law School. He is also the Herbert Wechsler Professor of Federal Jurisprudence and Director of the Center for National Security Law at Columbia Law School, and Distinguished Senior Lecturer at the University of Texas Law School. His principal writing has been in the subjects of constitutional theory, international security, and the history of strategy. Bobbitt is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and a life member of the American Law Institute. He has served in the U.S. government in various roles in both Democratic and Republican administrations. In 2021, Bobbitt received an honorary knighthood from HM Queen Elizabeth II.
