Valérie Bélair-Gagnon

Postdoctoral Associate in Law and Knight Law and Media Scholar, Information Society Project
Valérie Bélair-Gagnon is a Postdoctoral Associate in Law and Knight Law and Media Scholar of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. She studies the relationship between social media, laws on defamation and privacy, journalism and ethics. She has a particular interest in concepts relevant to the chilling effect in the UD and UK. Her research areas include freedom of speech, media ethics, new media, journalism, history of the media, and sociology of news. Her Ph.D dissertation examined social media at the BBC using a newsroom ethnography. She tweets at @vbelairgagnon and blogs at www.valeriebelairgagnon.com.
