Julia Kernochan Tama

Julia Kernochan Tama is an attorney with Venable LLP.  Venable is counsel to the coalition of trade groups and companies that developed and is implementing Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising.  Ms. Tama’s practice focuses on privacy and data security matters including marketing and advertising, financial and health privacy, and emerging issues related to the Internet and new media.  Ms. Tama advises on compliance with existing laws and regulations, represents clients facing government inquiries or enforcement actions, and assists clients with an interest in proposed regulation.  

Prior to joining Venable, Ms. Tama served as Judiciary Committee Counsel to U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), where her portfolio included privacy, data security, consumer protection, child Internet safety, and foreign intelligence surveillance.  Ms. Tama holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and an M.P.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
