Chinese Elder Law Project
The China Law Center hosted a visitor this fall from the National People’s Congress (NPC) to support the revision of China’s Law for the Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Elderly. As Chinese society ages, and the familial model of support comes to a crossroads, policies like Medicare, community services for the elderly, and elder abuse protections are increasingly important. The visitor from the NPC worked intensely with the Center’s professional staff and also met with U.S. legal and policy experts in the field of elder law over the course of a three-month period to understand state and federal law on these issues as part of the work on the revision.
