On occasion, the Program may provide small grants ($5,000 to $10,000 or less) to non-profit organizations that promote public interest through the law. Applications for a public interest law grant generally should be made by November of each year, with funding available the following July.

A complete application must include:
- An explanation of the organization's purpose and general activities.
- A brief letter describing: (1) the need for the funds; (2) how they will be used; and, (3) how they activity to be funded supports public interest law.

A proposed budget.
- Certification of the organization's 501(c)(3) status.
