The China Law Center’s Jamie Horsley was inaugural keynote speaker at a new Public Policy Forum at Beijing’s Peking University on October 19, 2006. The new Forum is designed to invite experts from China and abroad to address transparency and public input in Chinese government. Horsley’s presentation, “Toward an Open Government,” drew a full room of students and scholars to debate the significance of recent experiments in open government information in China. (A recent interview with Horsley
also discusses these issues.)
The Forum was co-sponsored by a new center at Peking University, jointly established by Peking’s law school and the China Law Center. The Forum was moderated by Peking University Law Professor and Center Fellow Wang Xixin. The event included commentary by Professor Zhou Hanhua of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Keith Hand, Senior Fellow of the China Law Center.
