Criminal Procedure Scholar Lectures on Yang Jia Case
Professor Guo Zhiyuan, currently a Kwang-hua Fellow at NYU Law School, led an interesting discussion on the Yang Jia case, the notorious "cop-killer" whose death sentence led to demonstrations all across China. Her talk highlighted several of the procedural irregularities that attended the authorities' mental examination of Mr. Yang, and ended with a number of proposals to ensure the efficacious examination of all criminal defendants.
