Roberto Aponte Toro

Dr. Roberto P. Aponte-Toro is Associate Dean and Professor of Law at the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico. He holds a B.A. in political science and a J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico; an MA in Political Behavior from the University of Essex, Colchester, England;  and an LL.M. and SJD from Harvard University. He was a former member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and had been involved in his professional career as a legal service, and public interest lawyer.  He was a founding member and later a vice president of the International Economic Law Group in the American Society for International Law.  Dr. Aponte-Toro was Executive Director of the University of Puerto Rico Law School Trust Fund and the Inter American Center for the Administration of Justice and Public Policy at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.  During the last three years he has been a member of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Continuing Legal Education.  He has taught courses and seminars on Public International Law, Law and Social Change, European Union Law, International Organizations, International Commercial Transactions, and NAFTA.

Dr. Aponte Toro has published extensively.  He is the author of Amor A La Americana (Editorial Forum, 1994). He has also lectured widely in Puerto Rico, the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia.
