Rafael Capurro is Founder and Director of the International Center for Information Ethics. Born 1945 in Montevideo (Uruguay). Licentiate in Philosophy from Colegio Máximo, Universidad del Salvador (Buenos Aires, Argentina) (1970). PhD in Philosophy from University of Düsseldorf (Germany) (1978). Postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation) in Ethics from Stuttgart University (Stuttgart). Professor of Information Science and Information Ethics at Stuttgart Media University (Germany) (1986-2009). Founder of the International Center for Information Ethics (1999 until today). Director of the Steinbeis-Transfer-Institute Information Ethics (STI-IE). Distinguished Researcher in Information Ethics, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2009-2012).
