William Vázquez-Irizarry

William Vázquez-Irizarry is a professor of law at the University of Puerto Rico.  He was educated at the University of Puerto Rico (where he was associate director of the law review) and the London School of Economics.  He clerked for Associate Justice Federico Hernández Denton, Supreme Court of Puerto Rico (now the chief justice).
 
Before teaching, Professor Vázquez-Irizarry occupied several positions in public service, having served as attorney at the Federal Litigation Division of the Puerto Rico Department of Justice; director of the Litigation Division of the Municipality of San Juan; executive assistant to the governor's chief of staff; and the governor's legal counsel.  In 2004 Professor Vázquez-Irizarry served as attorney general of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
 
In 2005, Professor Vázquez-Irizarry joined the faculty of the UPR School of Law.  He teaches civil procedure, administrative law and other courses and seminars related to public law and government affairs.
