YALE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS
A complete application must include:

A cover sheet listing the applicant’s current contact information (address, phone, e-mail) and class.
- The applicant’s resume, which should list relevant prior experiences working or volunteering in public service.
- A reflective essay not to exceed 5 double-spaced pages describing why the applicant is motivated to work in public interest law. The essay should do more than recite activities from the applicant’s resume.
- If the applicant is considering a fellowship at a specific host organization, a short statement about the host’s work and confirmation that it is a non-profit organization.
- At least two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a faculty member who knows well the applicant’s work. Absent unusual circumstances, the faculty recommendation should be from a full time member of the faculty, whether tenured or not and whether now teaching at Yale or at another university, and not from either a teaching assistant or an individual doing special courses through the college system. The recommendations must be included with the application.
- A copy of the applicant’s official current college transcript.
Applications for Summer 2010 fellowships must be submitted by December 4, 2009. All parts of the application must be received by close of business and must be delivered to the Liman Program, Room J45, Yale Law School, 127 Wall Street. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Summer Fellows are expected to attend the annual Liman Public Interest Colloquium at Yale Law School on March 4-5, 2010. They must also complete a final report describing their summer fellowship to be submitted by September 1, 2010.
