Tax Forms Research

Federal

The IRS site may not be flashy, but you should find it highly informative and helpful when it comes time to sit down with that mountain of receipts you've been amassing.

Federal forms of all shapes and sizes, including the 1040 (and instructions), 1040A (and instructions), and 1040EZ (and instructions), as well as other schedules and forms, are all available in the forms and pubs area of the site. These forms are all provided in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format, which requires the (free) Acrobat Reader to view and print.

The IRS site also contains various "FAQs", or frequently asked questions, about filing requirements and handling certain kinds of income and deductions.

State

If you're in the unenviable position of having to file returns in more than one state, you should find our chart below helpful in your search to locate all the necessary forms and information. Each state that has an income tax now provides forms on their site, and the links to each state below point to individual income tax forms, if applicable.

And one last word: fido doesn't have to file, but if he did, might his form look something like this?
