Professor Judith Resnik Recipient of Awards for Teaching and Writing

Arthur Liman Professor of Law Judith Resnik has been named a 2010 recipient of the Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award. The award recognizes current and former higher education faculty members, mainly in the fields of psychology, medicine, and law, who have inspired their students to create an organization or establish a concept, procedure, or movement of benefit to the community.

She will be honored along with other recipients at a ceremony at Columbia University on March 5, 2011.

Dr. Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman was a renowned educator, author, and pioneer in the field of psychology, as well as a champion and advocate for the advancement of women. The award was established in her memory in 2008 under the will of her daughter, Gail McKnight Beckman.

Professor Resnik was also recently honored for her book,Migrations and Mobilities: Citizenship, Borders, and Gender (co-edited with Seyla Benhabib, 2009), which was named one of the Outstanding Academic Titles of 2010 by Choice magazine. Choice is the major review medium for academic libraries. Its prestigious list reflects the best in scholarly titles reviewed by Choice each year and brings with it the extraordinary recognition of the academic library community.
