Several amicus, or friends-of-the-court, briefs have recently been filed in the case of Hamdan v. Rumsfeld
involving Yale Law School faculty that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear this spring. Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a Yemeni prisoner at Guantanamo Bay since May 2002, was once Osama bin Laden's driver.
One brief is on behalf of former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright and 21 former senior U.S. diplomats with Yale Law School Dean Harold Hongju Koh as Counsel of Record in support of the petitioner Hamdan, and the three other briefs involve Professors Judith Resnik, Bruce Ackerman, and William Eskridge, respectively.
