Anika Singh Lemar to Join Yale Law School Faculty

Anika Singh Lemar will join the Yale Law School faculty as Clinical Associate Professor of Law, effective July 1, 2014.

Lemar is currently a Visiting Clinical Associate Professor of Law at Yale Law School. Previously, while in private practice in New Haven, she represented clients in land use matters, affordable housing development, and urban revitalization efforts. Prior to that, she was a Skadden Fellow at the Urban Justice Center’s Community Development Project. She helped to found and later served on the Board of Directors of Next City, a highly-regarded urban affairs magazine.

Lemar holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar. While at NYU, she was named a Paul and Daisy Soros New American Fellow. Following law school, she clerked for The Honorable Janet C. Hall of the United States District Court in Bridgeport, Conn.

Lemar will teach the Community and Economic Development Clinic during the 2014-2015 academic year.

"Anika is a talented lawyer, a beautifully effective teacher, and a natural leader. We are so very lucky to have her join our faculty," said Dean Robert Post ’77.
