David Boies to Speak on "Lawyering and Politics, from the Florida Recount to Fahrenheit 9/11"
October 4, 2004

David Boies '66, the managing partner of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, will speak on "Lawyering and Politics, from the Florida Recount to Fahrenheit 9/11," on Tuesday, October 5th, at 6:00 p.m., in Room 122. The talk is sponsored by the American Constitution Society and is free and open to the public.

Called "perhaps the highest profile lawyer in America" by Time magazine, David Boies has been involved in a number of prominent cases in recent years. He was special trial counsel for the Justice Department in its antitrust suit against Microsoft. He also defended Napster and its online music file sharing business and was the plaintiff's lead counsel in a class-action lawsuit involving price collusion at the Sotheby's and Christie's auction houses.

Boies was the lead counsel for Al Gore in the Florida recount controversy in 2000 and recently negotiated the politically delicate release of Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11. His talk will address these cases at the boundary of politics and law.
