“Defending Our Lives” Lecture and Screening March 27

University of Texas Clinical Law Professor Sarah M. Buel will speak on the topic of domestic violence on Tuesday, March 27, at Yale Law School. Her lecture, titled “Defending Our Lives,” begins at 6:00 p.m. in Room 120 of the law school. It will be followed by a screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary “Defending Our Lives,” narrated by Buel and featuring the terrifying personal testimonies of four women imprisoned for killing their batterers. 

Sarah Buel is co-director of the Domestic Violence Clinic at the University of Texas School of Law and co-founder of the University of Texas Voices Against Violence program. She has spent the past 29 years working with battered women, abused children and juveniles within the legal system. A domestic violence survivor herself, Professor Buel is committed to improving the court and community response to abuse victims.

A reception with Professor Buel will precede the lecture at 5:00 p.m. in the Alumni Reading Room. Yale Law School is located at 127 Wall Street, New Haven.
