Dean Koh Testifies Before House Foreign Affairs Committee About Human Rights Practices
Yale Law School Dean Harold Hongju Koh testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on March 29, at a full committee hearing on the state of the U.S. government’s human rights policies and the recently issued “2007 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices and the Promotion of Human Rights in U.S. Foreign Policy.”
Dean Koh is the Gerard C. and Bernice Latrobe Smith Professor of International Law at Yale Law School, where he has taught since 1985 and served as Dean since 2004. He formerly served as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
Also testifying were former Assistant Secretaries of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Lorne Craner, president of the International Republic Institute; and John Shattuck, chief executive officer of The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
