China Law Center Co-Hosts Anti-Discrimination Workshop in Chengdu

Yale Law Schoolís†China Law Center co-hosted a workshop on anti-discrimination law with Sichuan University Law School on January 19 and 20 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The workshop brought together leading Chinese experts and officials with a delegation of foreign experts that included Yale Law School professors Jack Balkin and Reva Siegel í86; China Law Center Director Paul Gewirtz í70; and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commissioner Stuart Ishimaru.

The goal of the participants was to take stock of the current state of discrimination law in China and explore ways in which the American approach to combating discrimination might provide helpful insights for Chinese academics, lawyers, and activists seeking to continue the reform process that†began in the 1990s.†
