Crossing Borders: Transnational Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Rights
Is there a relationship between our debates about these issues and international principles of human rights? What can a transnational understanding of sexual and reproductive rights teach? This panel will consider the role of human rights law in securing sexual/reproductive rights. It will also consider what comparative constitutional law might teach about the ways that other jurisdictions protect or do not protect reproductive rights, as aspects of health, sexual freedom, family leave or welfare law. How do norms cross borders? When and for what purposes should decision makers consider the law of other jurisdictions?
Panelists: Harold Koh, Dean, Yale Law School chair. Judith Resnik, Yale Law School, Rebecca Cook, University of Toronto Law School, Joanna Erdmann, University of Toronto Law School, Vicki Jackson, Georgetown University Law Center.
