Lawyer to Discuss Case Against Texas Utility Oct. 7
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, a pioneering commercial litigator will discuss his role in blocking construction of several coal-fired power plants in a landmark case that pitted 37 cities against a powerful Texas utility.
Stephen Susman of Susman Godfrey will discuss the case against TXU in the third-floor auditorium of the Peabody Museum of Natural History. His talk will immediately follow a 5 p.m. screening of Fighting Goliath: Texas Coal Wars, a 34-minute film that chronicles Susmanís work and is narrated by Robert Redford. Susmanís firm was awarded the National Law Journalís 2008 Pro-Bono Award for successfully arguing the TXU case.
The screening and lecture are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy, the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale, and the School of Management Energy Club.
