Corporate Law Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Financial Regulation Roundtable Feb. 13

In celebration of its tenth anniversary, the Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law is co-sponsoring the Weil, Gotshal and Manges Roundtable on “The Future of Financial Regulation” Friday, February 13, 2009, at the Law School.  The event is co-sponsored by the Yale Journal on Regulation and is open to the University community.

The program will consist of four panels at which panelists will evaluate the causes of the evolving subprime mortgage crisis, following credit crunch, and financial panic of 2007-08; the government reaction to the crisis; and proposed solutions, including reform of the regulatory architecture for financial institutions.

A continental breakfast will be available beginning at 9:00 a.m. The program begins at 9:30 a.m. and runs through approximately 4:00 p.m. Members of the University community wishing to attend should register in advance by contacting Kris Kavanaugh at kris.kavanaugh@yale.edu.

Leading corporate lawyers, members of the business and investment communities, public officials and scholars participate in the roundtables.

The Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law was established in 1999 following conversations between Robert Todd Lang ’47 and then Dean Anthony T. Kronman ’75. The wide-ranging objective of the Center is to enhance the quality of students’ educational experience and of faculty research in the business law area by increasing exposure to and engagement with contemporary business law issues.

The Yale Journal on Regulation is a scholarly law journal that publishes articles by professors and practitioners from a variety of backgrounds on topics ranging from antitrust and bankruptcy to telecommunication and securities law.
