Understanding the Financial Crisis Part II, Feb. 17 at YLS

As the Obama administration moves ahead with its plan to deal with the nation’s ongoing financial crisis, faculty from Yale College, Yale Law School, and the Yale School of Management will reconvene to continue the conversation begun on the subject in October.

This latest panel discussion, titled “Understanding the Financial Crisis; Part II: The Stimulus, Bailouts, and Other Solutions,” will be held Tuesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. in the Yale Law School auditorium.

Taking part will be:

• John Geanakoplos, James Tobin Professor of Economics
• Jonathan Macey ’82, Deputy Dean of Yale Law School and Sam Harris Professor of Corporate Law, Corporate Finance, and Securities Law
• William Nordhaus, Sterling Professor of Economics
• Robert Shiller, Arthur M. Okun Professor of Economics

Richard C. Levin, President of Yale University and Frederick William Beinecke Professor of Economics, will moderate the discussion, which will focus on both the short-term solutions to the financial crisis and long-term changes that are inevitable and necessary in the financial industry. Individual presentations by the panelists will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

The panel discussion is sponsored by The Yale President’s Office, the Yale College Council, and the Yale College Student Investment Group.
