Additional Activities

Conference participants who arrive early on Friday, April 16 are invited to join in any of the following activities:

Foraging Tour of Edgewood Park
Friday, April 16 | 1:30-3:30pm
Meet at Yale Law School, 127 Wall Street

Tour Guide: "Wildman" Steve Brill, Naturalist and Urban Foraging Educator
This optional tour of Edgewood Park in western New Haven will provide an
unorthodox perspective on food production and consumption. "Wildman" Steve
Brill will guide participants through the city park and its plethora of
edible, seasonal plants. Famously arrested for "eating up" Central Park in
1986, only to be hired by the Park to lead foraging tours shortly
thereafter, Steve Brill has been entertaining tour participants for decades
with his encyclopedic knowledge of wild urban flora and unique touch of
humor. Spaces are limited, so please RSVP to Jon Smith early.

Book Talk:  Food Rebellions
Friday, April 16 | 4pm
Labyrinth Books

Food First's Annie Shattuck will present Food Rebellions! Crisis and the Hunger for Justice, which she coauthored with Eric Holt-Giménez and Raj Patel.  The book offers the real story behind the global food crisis and documents the growing trend of grassroots solutions to hunger spreading around the world.

Wine and cheese will be served.
