Nondiscrimination Policy

Yale Law School is committed to a policy against discrimination based upon age, color, handicap or disability, ethnic or national origin, race, religion, religious creed, gender (including discrimination taking the form of sexual harassment), marital, parental or veteran status, sexual orientation, or the prejudice of clients.

Employers participating in Yale Law School’s interview programs are required to agree to the Nondiscrimination Policy Statement when they request a schedule on the website.

1L Recruiting

Yale Law School follows the National Association for Law Placement’s Principles and Standards for Law Placement and Recruitment Activities (Link to NALP?) for the recruiting of first-year law students.  The law school does not offer career services to first-year students prior to November 1.  Prospective employers and first-year students should not initiate contact with one another before December 1.  Offers of summer employment to first-year students should remain open for at least two weeks after the date made.

Timing of Offers to Upperclass Students

Yale Law School follows the Principles and Standards set forth by the National Association for Law Placement for upperclass recruiting with a few slight modifications due to the late timing of our Fall Interview Program.

*YLS modifies the NALP standards in this situation from Nov. 1 until Nov. 15 (due to the late timing of FIP).
**Specifically, Yale asks FIP private sector employers to extend a sole offer until Apr. 15 if the student is waiting to hear from a PI/GOV employer.

YLS Grading Policy

Employers are free to request transcripts from students.  The Registrar’s Office website provides information about the YLS grading policy.

Employer Receptions

Employers wishing to host a reception off campus for YLS students should feel free to contact our Recruiting Assistant, Amanda Hilton, at 203-432-7426 or amanda.hilton@yale.edu.  Viewing our master calendar (link) will provide information about appropriate dates and times.
