Students with Families

Yale Law School considers the partners and children of its students to be a part of the Yale Law School community. Each incoming class has a number of students who are married or have significant others. Students also attend the Law School while raising children (a recent student had five children).

Spouses and same-sex partners of current students are eligible for a Student Affiliate I.D. Card, which gives access to many University resources, such as the gym, the shuttle bus, the library, and the museums.

New Haven is a family-friendly city with many activities and programs directed primarily at children and their families.

The YLS Early Learning Center,an independently operated childcare center, is located right in the Law School building. It is open all year round, and the children of Yale Law School faculty, staff, and students have priority in the assignment of spaces. The Law School also makes loans available to cover the Center's tuition for students on financial aid.

The WorkLife Program at Yaleprovides information and advice about other childcare options at the University and in the New Haven area.

There are a number of options for spouses or partners who will be looking for a job. Yale University is one of New Haven's largest employers and hires people in a wide variety of positions. For more information, please see:
