CDO is eager to co-sponsor programs with student organizations. If you have ideas for programs, please discuss them with us. CDO generally records all programs, either by VHS or streaming video for students who cannot attend the session. A listing can be found under Resources.
Our educational programs include:
Skills workshops: We offer résumé and cover letter workshops tailored to our students’ unique needs. We also offer programs on successful interviewing and networking techniques for a variety of jobs types. Programs are available for students interested in specialized job searches, such as government jobs, judicial clerkships or public interest fellowships.
Career Exploration: Speakers from an array of legal careers come to the law school every year to discuss types of work, geographic choices, and other factors related to career exploration. CDO also makes use of law school resources, presenting panels of law students and faculty who discuss their experiences with job searches or with different careers. Finally, CDO presents programs on issues of general interest to students contemplating career choices, such as evaluating pro bono programs or balancing career and family.
Mentors: Through CDO's Mentor in Residence program, students can sign up for individual appointments with lawyers from many different public and private sector positions when they visit the law school. These mentors offer students an opportunity for individualized guidance in a particular career path.
