Recruit 1L Students
Fundamentally, it pays to make a connection in the first summer. Hundreds of employers recruit upperclass students in the fall, as compared to only 15 employers who recruit first-year students in the spring. If you provide a first-year student with a quality summer experience, she will share her positive experience with fellow classmates which improves student awareness and may well increase interest in your organization. Post a position for 1L summer internships through our Job Posting System. Click here to find out more about the Spring Interview Program.

Post or Enhance Your Employer Profile
Students utilize our Career Management System to apply for job postings, participate in interview programs, and conduct general employer research. Employers can upload information on corporate culture such as career advancement tracks and diversity initiatives as well as Yale specific information such as key alumni contacts at your organization.

Offer a sponsored split public interest summer
Many of our students are interested in combining private and public sector work during the summer and specifically request information about law firms that pay a student for the entire summer but allow them to work for half of the summer with a public interest organization and half with the firm. CDO produces two brochures about this topic; one brochure defines split public interest summer programs, and the other lists firms that currently provide split public interest summer opportunities. In addition to advertising these programs through our brochures, we also celebrate those firms during our interview programs. For employers who would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact CDO at 432-1676 or cdo.law@yale.edu.

Make sure your alumni get involved
If you have alumni of Yale Law School at your organization, encourage them to join YLS Career Connectionsonline via the CDO web site. Over 1,600 alumni are currently membersand have offered to provide career advice to current students or fellow graduates. A student who develops arelationship with an attorney at your organization will be more likely to consider employment with you. In addition, CDO staff often consults Career Connectionsto locate interesting speakers for our programs. YLS alumni may also wish to have an Alumni Career Profile featured on CDO's website; if interested in creating a profile, alumni shouldemail Tina Severson or Janelle Schmouder.

Connect with CDO
CDO offers numerous career related programming for students and alumni, including our 1L and 2L Mock Interview Programs and our annual Law Firm Practice Area Forum. If you are interested in participating in CDO programs, please send an email to cdo.law@yale.edu expressing your interest. In your outreach, be as specific as possible regarding your interests.

Connect with Student Organizations
Yale Law School student organizations host programs throughout the year for their members. For many of these programs, they engage with outside speakers. Review the list of YLS student organizations at www.law.yale.edu/studentlife/StudentOrganizations.htm. Many organizations have their own websites containing information about their mission, upcoming events and contact information. Contact Sachi Rodgers, Director of Student Affairs, to express interest in offering to assist student organizations with projects.
