Stop the Beach Renourishment v. Florida DEP, A Discussion
Join YELA in inviting YLS Professor Thomas Merrill to speak about his involvement with writing the respondent's brief in Stop the Beach Renourishment v. Florida DEP, a case to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in December. The case asks whether state legislation to restore storm-eroded beaches and thus modify existing private boundary lines constitutes a judicial taking or violates the due process clause. This will be the first takings case before Justices Roberts, Alito, and Sotomayor. The talk will be he Wednesday, October 14, 12:10pm to 1:00pm, in SLB Room 120. Non-pizza lunch will be served.
