YFIL Lunchtime Discussion - Careers in International Taxation

The Yale Forum on International Law (YFIL) is pleased to welcome

BILL CHIP

Senior International Tax Partner, Covington & Burling LLP

for a lunchtime discussion on the fascinating world of international tax.

Bill Chip, YLS class of 1979, is the senior international tax partner of Covington & Burling.  For 30 years he has been advising financial institutions, oil companies, and other multinational enterprises on the tax-efficient structuring of their global operations and helping them to resolve cross-border tax controversies.  He has negotiated with the tax authorities of many foreign jurisdictions, including Canada, Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, and the UK, and he holds leadership positions in the tax committees of several professional and business associations.  In 1996 Bill gave up his law partnership to spend 9 years as an international tax partner at a global accounting firm, where he led the transfer pricing and financial services industry tax practices, returning to law practice in 2005.  After receiving a B.A. in Political Science & Economics from Yale University in 1971 and an M.A. in Economics from Cambridge University in 1973, Bill served for three years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
