Fed Soc Holds Fifth Annual Banquet
The chapter was delighted to welcome Judge Reena Raggi of the Second Circuit as the keynote speaker at our Fifth Annual Banquet on April 30. Following dinner service in the Union League Café Ballroom, Judge Raggi delivered an address on the importance of the jury system as a cornerstone of democratic involvement in the judicial process, drawing on her 15 years of experience as a trial judge in the Eastern District of New York. After offering a vigorous defense of the jury as a prized American institution, she continued to impress the chapter with thoughtful answers to more than a dozen audience questions, including a multi-part query from our faculty advisor, Professor George Priest.
The Banquet program also featured remarks by Yale Law School Dean Robert Post, who expressed his appreciation for the chapter programming and emphasized the importance of creating a culture of open debate within the law school community. Finally, Chapter President Becky Perry celebrated the year’s many accomplishments and honored the outgoing leadership.
This year’s Banquet was once again made possible through the generous support of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
