Asian American Voting Rights Panel - April 24, 2007
PANA will be hosting an exciting panel to explore the
Asian American voting experience with prominent voting rights experts from
three different
perspectives:
1. On the Ground: Brian Redondo from the Asian
American Legal Defense and Education
Fund (AALDEF) will be speaking about his experience as a
local voting
rights advocate who is involved in working with Asian American
communities a the grassroots level in New
York.
2. National Advocacy: Terry Ao from the Asian American
Justice Center will
be speaking about her experience as an advocate who lobbies Congress and
works on a national level on Asian American voting rights
3. Legal Perspectives: Professor Dan Tokaji from Ohio State University
will moderate the panel and speak to not only potential legislative
changes, but also the role of the courts and legal academia in
addressing voter rights reforms.
Please mark your calendars for this exciting event!

Annual Alumni Awards Banquet
We are pleased to announce that PANA will be holding
our inaugural Alumni Awards Banquet on May 5, 2007 at the Yale Law School.
Congressman David Wu of Oregon's
First Congressional District and Dean Harold Koh will be our honorees. We hope you will join us for this exciting
event - in addition to presenting awards to the guests of honor, we will
introduce the 2007-2008 PANA Executive Board and wish our 3Ls a fond farewell. This will also be an excellent opportunity to
reconnect with PANA alumni.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
4:30PM - Keynote Address by Congressman Wu (open to
Yale community) 5:30PM - Reception following Keynote Address (open to Yale
community) 6:45PM - Dinner with Awards Presentation (by invitation only, free
for PANA members)
All of the events will take place at the Yale Law
School. If you are interested in attending the
dinner, please RSVP to Emily Liu (emily.liu@yale.edu) by FRIDAY, APRIL 13. It is very important that you RSVP for the
dinner as space is limited. There is no charge for PANA members. Guests may be permitted if space allows, at a
cost per person TBD. If you may be
interested in bringing a guest, please include his/her name with your RSVP so
we can keep a waitlist.
The dinner will be held in the YLS Dining Hall, and
the theme is pan-Asian family recipes contributed by our own PANA members (and
Dean Koh!). Our goal is to have every
dish served at the dinner be from a PANA member's family recipe. If you have any recipes to contribute, please
send them with your RSVP by April 13 at 11:59 PM. We are particularly interested in a recipe
for a meat main course, vegetarian fried rice, and appetizers, but are open to
all recipes!
We really hope that you will join us at the dinner, as
well as the keynote address and reception. RSVP is closed at this time. Please e-mail emily.liu@yale.edu to be placed on the waiting list.
