Survey Methodology
In an effort to collect the most accurate and up-to-date data, YLW surveyed firms from the 2007 Vault Top 100 Law Firms list. This methodolody represents a change from last year when we relied on data provided by NALP and evaluated the Top 200 firms.
Categories of questions included access to and use of maternity/paternity leave; emergency and on-site child care; part-time and flex-time work schedules; health and other benefits for domestic partners; ratios of women partners and associates; and billable hours.
Firm responses were weighted based on a 2007 survey of Yale Law School alumni who were asked about the importance of each category of family friendly policies.
While only the Top Ten firms’ names and results were released publicly, all participating firms were given the opportunity to learn more about their results and how they could strengthen their policies.
