YELA/ FES Climate Justice Speaker Series: Climate Change and Human Rights
Craig Hart is
currently counsel to Alston & Bird's Energy Infrastructure, Climate Change
and Technology Practice in the Washington, DC, office. He formerly served
as the Climate Change Law Fellow at the Center for International Environmental
law (CIEL), where he directed their climate change program. Dr. Hart, who
holds a J.D. from Berkeley and a PhD from MIT, co-authored the Male Declaration
on the Human Dimensions of Global Climate Change, adopted by the UN Human
Rights Council in March 2008.
Dr. Hart works with various types of renewable energy and carbon management technologies. He recently advised the developer of a combined heat and power biomass power project in China to be registered under the Clean Development Mechanism, and investors in their acquisition of a portfolio of carbon credit generating projects. He speaks and writes on the subjects of renewable energy policy, climate change, and issues of energy and the environment in China. His forthcoming book is entitled "Climate Change and the Private Sector."
