Top Ten List Informational Meeting
Want to change the way law firms operate while you’re still in law school? Join the Top Ten Family Friendly Firms Committee! The 2009 Top Ten List will be YLW’s fourth annual survey of law firm’s family friendly practices. The Top Ten List seeks to improve family friendly practices at law firms by providing both the incentives for firms to change and the benchmarks they need to accurately assess their policies.
This year’s Top Ten List Committee will meet as a Reading Group – which means you get the glory and the credit! The reading group syllabus will include scholarship on the history of American families, business practices of law firms, gender gaps in the legal profession, and work-life balance in the private sector. In producing the Top Ten List, committee members will also assess what it means to be family-friendly, help redesign the survey, and serve the primary contacts for the firms participating in the survey, answering questions up front and providing individualized feedback once the results are released. Leadership positions are also available, including a Communications Manager, Publicity Manager, and at least one Survey Design Manager.
If you have any questions, or are interested but can’t make the meeting, email Emily Oldshue or Lauren Gerber. The meeting will be from 12:15 - 1 PM in Room 121, and lunch will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!
