Women in Prisons
In 2007, there were nearly 115,000 women prisoners under state or federal jurisdiction. This is a nearly six-fold increase from the number of women incarcerated in 1986. Women in prison are different from men both in the types of crimes they commit and in their needs once in prison. YLS Clinical Professor Brett Dignam is a leading advocate for prisoners, having participated in major litigation in more than 30 federal and state cases in the area of prisoners' rights. We hope you'll join Professor Dignam and YLW to learn more about this fascinating area of the criminal justice system. Co-sponsored by the LSO Student Board.
