Isaias Yemane Tesfalidet

Isaias Yemane Tesfalidet has an LL.B. from the University of Asmara, Faculty of Law and an LL.M. from the Yale Law School. Before joining the LL.M. program at the Yale Law School, he worked as a Staff Attorney at the Office of the Legal Advisor to the Office of the President of the State of Eritrea (August 2006 - August 2009). His work there involved responsibility of states for internationally wrongful acts for violations of international law including human rights and humanitarian law. In May 2008, Isaias appeared before the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission final Damages Hearing at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague. He is also a Fellow with the Forum for International Criminal and Humanitarian Law.

Fields of Interest and Dissertation Project
Isaias’s fields of interest include public international law, international human rights, humanitarian and criminal law, international adjudication and arbitration, international investment law and African Union law(s). He is currently working on enforcement of international judgments in State-State disputes and the role of third States for his dissertation.
