Isaias Yemane Tesfalidet


Isaias Yemane Tesfalidet is a J.S.D. candidate at Yale Law School. He has an LL.B. from the University of Asmara, Faculty of Law, and an LL.M. from Yale Law School. Before joining the LL.M. program at the Yale Law School, Isaias worked as a Staff Attorney at the Office of the Legal Advisor to the Office of the President of the State of Eritrea. His work there focused on the responsibility of states for internationally wrongful acts and violations of international law, including international human rights law and humanitarian law. In May 2008, Isaias appeared before the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission Final Damages Hearing at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague. He is also a Fellow with the Forum for International Criminal and Humanitarian Law.

Isaias’ fields of interest include public international law, international human rights, humanitarian and criminal law, international adjudication and arbitration, international investment law, and African Union law(s). For his dissertation, he is working on enforcement of international judgments in State-State disputes and the role of third States.
