Rick D’Avino

Rick D’Avino is a Visiting Lecturer in Law and Oscar M. Ruebhausen Distinguished Fellow at Yale Law School and Chair of Insourced Solutions for Tax at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which he joined as a Managing Director in 2014. From 2005–2013, D’Avino was Vice President and Senior Tax Counsel at General Electric Company (GE), where he managed all taxation affairs for GE Capital, GE Corporate, and GE’s interest in NBC Universal. He previously served in the same capacity for GE Capital. D’Avino clerked for the Honorable Alvin B. Rubin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. From 1983–1987, he was Attorney-Advisor and Deputy Tax Legislative Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He was a Partner at King & Spalding from 1987–1991. D’Avino’s professional service includes membership on the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council and the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Tax Section. The Chair of Mitchell College’s Board of Trustees, D’Avino serves on the University of Pennsylvania Law School’s Board of Advisors. He is a Lecturer in Law at Columbia, where he teaches Corporate Taxation. He has also held teaching positions at Georgetown University Law Center and University of Pennsylvania Law School, his alma mater.
