Michael Clemente ’16: Student Research Referenced in NY Times
Student research by Mike Clemente ’16, which was published in the Yale Law Journal last year, was referenced on the front page of the New York Times on August 22, 2016 in an article titled "Supreme Court to Consider Legal Standard Drawn From ‘Of Mice and Men.’" Drawing on historical materials, Clemente, now a law clerk for a federal judge, demonstrated that the original understanding of the Eighth Amendment, based on English common law, barred the execution of people whose mental abilities were below those of an ordinary child of 14.
